The hulls and frames of the Elizabeth Swann are to be made as 10 main subassemblies, (with the port and starboard outriggers/sponsons being mirror image - and the fore and aft foils being identical), as depicted below and joined by assembly to form the 'articulation-ready' wave piercing trimaran hull. These are draft dimensions, for project planning purposes, subject to revision by our naval architects and stressing team as the concept is developed. The vessel is designed first and foremost as a development test-bed for ocean speed trials, and secondly as a stunning solar boat for inclusion in a potential series of conservation themed films.
This is the longest sub-assembly, and the most important hydrodynamically @ 42.4 meters (140feet). This hull could be made from rolled 5083 alloy sections, divided into: 1. Nosecone, 2. Central fore hull, 3. Central aft hull and 4. Tail cone. This is to reduce the workshop area needed, and make construction more practical. Of course there would need to be great care in joining the sections, to ensure true running. A banana shaped hull would sap a lot of energy. The main cylindrical section is 2.4384 meters (8 feet) in diameter.
