NOVEMBER 2023 - Continuous rain in Sussex, England had our workshop flooded out, and then a storm came along to cause a lot more problems. Roof repairs were effected, with other building repairs ongoing. The ever increasing downpours are tangible evidence of global warming. Finally, we got the jig for assembling the large scale proof of concept boat into position, with welding and other equipment to hand. Our engineering student is on the case, designing away in CAD. Next port of call is modifying the jig, to take larger diameter hulls. The proof of concept model has also grown in length. Our engineering student is seen here, getting things together. He is a speaker at the Bexhill Ocean Symposium on the 18th November 2023. Much of which is to do with how SeaVax spawned from the solar energy harvesting system of this concept. Elizabeth Swann is hydrogen powered, with solar assistance. The design advanced quite a bit in 2023, as you will see in 2024, as the youth team put the hull in the water for trials. Larger diameter alloy tubes were purchased in December 2023 for cutting in Jan-Feb 2024.

During these events, the crew will attempt to live without using single use plastic packaging and disposable items, such as plastic toothbrushes and razors. In the quest to save Planet Earth, every little helps.
SOLAR RACER: WORLD SPEED RECORD CONTENDER: The Elizabeth Swann is thought to be the world's fastest solar powered vessel. The triple hulled ship holds the potential to set a blistering circumnavigation record on solar power alone, so not requiring hydrogen bunkering at ports and harbours. The hull is to be built of 5083 marine alloy, GRP free. Alternatively, this adaptable design may be used to set the world's 1st hydrogen circumnavigation records. providing supporters with two Guinness Book of World Records entries, for the price of one ship.

SOLAR RACER V2 JANUARY 2024 - This is a CAD drawing for a revised main hull @ 2800mm with 1870mm outriggers (D4 43.72kg) proof of concept model at 1:20 scale. Design copyright 6th January 2024. Cleaner Ocean Foundation, all rights reserved. The model is to include solar assistance and hydrogen power, with intermediate battery store. Potentially, the world's fastest solar or hydrogen ship. There will be no wind turbines. As you may have noticed, the design has increased in length. Tank tests will reveal the performance characteristics with generic hull ends to begin with, until additional backing is available. The vessel is to be used for filming an Egyptian adventure featuring Cleopatra reborn, and her love of the sun powered Queen of the Nile, as she calls the Elizabeth Swann.
Join us for a race into the nautical unknown. Please note, that after careful reading of the Eligibility Criteria, that the Foundation would be ineligible at the current state of play, hence may not make EU applications for RIA proposals. Though no EU calls exist in relation to solar power alone, that may change, at some point in time, the eligibility rules will not.
