PlanetSolar heading out into uncharted technical waters. The theory was in place, but nobody knew if this solar powered boat could make it. But they did! The solar panel area on this ship was increased with solar panels on rollers, pulled out by the crew using winches. The Elizabeth Swann uses robotics and hydraulics to move solar wings that automatically track the sun, and fold away in storm conditions.

WP10. CASTING OFF & UNMANNED DOCKING

Leaving and return to port(s) assistance of manned casting off and docking, in preparation for autonomous port departures and docking at port of destination. Such ability being essential to any truly autonomous circumnavigation ability.

This WP involves the fitting of camera and other sensors, combined with AI robotic control of the ship's propulsion and steerage systems, to steer the Elizabeth Swann safely into and out of a berth, allied to a COLREGs compliant autopilot - and where necessary, eyes on board drone capability.
